Dr. Seuss Day!

Centimeters and Inches

During Math, we have been practicing measuring jumps, arm spans, and objects to the nearest centimeter and inch. Students worked in small groups to measure their arm spans and jumps using a tape measure!  Please remind your child to start at "0" when measuring!

Soils Science

In Science, we have been learning about soil, including humus, clay, and sand. Students have been reading nonfiction texts about soil and experimenting with different types of soil!  Children have learned that clay is the only type of soil that you can roll into a ball through experimenting with clay, sand, and humus!

Transformations

Students created heart transformations with Miss Gray's Class for Healthy Heart Day. Students started with a picture of a heart and used their creative skills to transform the heart into another picture!

Writer's Workshop

This week we worked on creative writing during Writer's Workshop. Students used the writing prompt "Imagine that you, Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Olaf have to go on a mission to save somebody that is stuck in his house from a blizzard. How do you meet these creatures?  Tell the story about your mission!"  We brainstormed a list of words and adjectives, planned for writing and began to write our first drafts. Students came up with some very creative stories!
