There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Pie

Room 112 read the story, There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Pie. After reading, we retold the story in sequence. Next, we played a game to determine the cause and effect of the events in the story. Last, we determined that the author's purpose in the story was to "entertain". We used RAP - restate the question, answer the question, and probe your answer to write a response about the author's purpose!

Stamford Museum and Nature Center

We had a great time practicing our mapping skills and learning about solids, liquids, and gases at the Stamford Museum and Nature Center!

Math: Data Day

Students practiced gathering data, entering data in a table, and drawing a bar graph by counting the number of pockets they were wearing and collecting the data!  Students also found the middle value, or median number, in the data set!

Halloween Parade and Party!

We had a great time celebrating and showing off our dancing skills at the Halloween Parade and Party!  Thank you to our room parents for organizing the party and to everyone who donated a special treat!

Halloween Math!

Students used a domino to create fact family bats!  We also explored place value by creating a candy corn with a number, base 10 blocks, and expanded place value form.  During our Halloween celebration, students participated in a spider math scavenger hunt. Finally, students estimated the amount of candy corns in a jar. Thank you to Mrs. Heigel for donating our estimation station!
